There are four series of Northwood
guitars, the M70, R70,
M80 and R80, which
are available in a range of body shapes.
•
Each series is available in nine body shapes including
D (Dreadnought), MJ
(Mini Jumbo), OO-14 fret, OO-12
fret, OM, OM-V
(OM with a Venetian cutaway), OM-F (OM
with a Florentine cutaway), MJ-V
(Mini Jumbo with a Venetian cutaway) and MJ-F
(Mini Jumbo with a Florentine cutaway).
• The letter M
or R in the series refers to either
solid mahogany (M) or solid rosewood (R), which is
used for the back and sides of the guitars. Beautifully
figured quilted maple (QM would be the prefix) or
flamed maple (FM would be the prefix) back and sides
are also available as an optional extra.
Please note that the prices for these outstanding
quality maples are always based as a surcharge from
the R80 price on the price list.
• The numbers 70
and 80 in the series refers to the
two specification levels of trim that is available.
A 70 series guitar has a Solid Englemann
Spruce top, One piece quarter-sawn Mahogany neck,
High gloss body and satin neck, Hand fitted dove-tail
neck joint, Inlayed herringbone rosette, Abalone inlayed
head stock logo, Ebony bridge, ivoroid bound Ebony
fingerboard, Bone nut and saddle, Rosewood body-binding,
Ebony bridge-pins, Rosewood head stock veneer and
a hard shell case.
An 80 series guitar includes all
of the 70 series features as standard plus Bound ivoroid
Ebony fretboard and headstock veneer, Inlayed Abalone
soundhole rosette, Abalone position markers and logo,
Ebony bridge pins with Abalone dots, and all woods
are premium grade.
All instruments are assembled in a climate-controlled
atmosphere with a relative humidity of 38-42 percent.
This helps to reduce the incidence of cracks appearing,
should the guitar be exposed to prolonged arid conditions.
A one-piece, quarter sawn mahogany neck is dovetailed
into the body, has an adjustable truss rod accessed
through the soundhole, and is hand-carved to a very
comfortable profile.
Spruce soundboards are standard with western red cedar,
or bearclaw spruce optional. Left-handed instruments
are a no charge option and custom orders are also
taken. John offers a limited lifetime warranty on
all of his instruments. |
